Atlantic Ocean Weather Check
I’m not sure if I ever posted on here that I blogged over at livejournal.com for 3.5 years before moving over here to do public blogging a few weeks ago.
Well, I still hang around LJ to keep up with my friends and also keep up with the various “communities” I’m a member of over there. One of the communities is called TWC Aficionados (The Weather Channel Aficionados) a community for anyone interested in weather. I just posted an update over there about the weather situation in the Atlantic Ocean, and I thought I’d cross-post it here, as well:

At this time the National Hurricane Center is watching two areas of disturbed weather back-to-back in the Atlantic between the Windward Islands and Cape Verde Islands.
The first one is tagged Invest 92L and has the best chance of becoming a Tropical Depression over the next couple of days.
From the 2am Tropical Weather Outlook:
1. A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE IS LOCATED OVER THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC OCEAN ABOUT 900 MILES EAST OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS. ALTHOUGH ASSOCIATED SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY REMAINS DISORGANIZED…ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR GRADUAL DEVELOPMENT…AND THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 15 TO 20 MPH.

The second one is not tagged as an Invest but the NHC says it has a “medium” risk of organizing into something more than just showers.
Here’s the latest on that:
2. A LARGE AREA OF DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IS LOCATED OVER THE EASTERN ATLANTIC A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. SLOW DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS POSSIBLE DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH.
And there are no storm-specific images for it because it’s not an Invest (yet?).
Anyways. There’s the tropical weather update for the night. Perhaps it’s bedtime now.
